적절한 무엇이 생각나지 않을 때 영어로 말하기 - I can't think of~

오늘은 말할 때 적절한 무엇이 생각나지 않을 때 자연스럽게 이어가는 표현에 대해 공부해 보겠습니다.

 

I can't think of the right thing to say.
이 말을 어떻게 꺼내야 할지...

I can't think of the right thing to say.

 

적절한 말(표현), 방법, 단점, 용도, 사람 등이 생각나지 않을 때는 I can't think of를 사용할 수 있는데요. 

1. I can't think of 명사
2. I can't think of what/how to부정사
이렇게 표현을 하는 방법이 있습니다. 

 

#1. I can't think of을 활용해 문장을 영작해 보세요. 

1. 제 상황에 해당하는 딱 맞는 단어가 생각이 안 납니다.

2. '화가 나'보다 내 감정을 더 잘 표현할 수 있는 단어는 없는 듯해.
   __________________________________________________

3. 전시회 너무 멋졌어. 오후 시간을 이보다 더 잘 보낼 수가 있을까?

4. 남은 치즈를 어디에다 써야 할지 모르겠다.

5. 듀얼 모니터 쓰면 너무 편리해. 동시에 여러 가지 작업을 하거나 작업을 바꿔 가며 하는 게 가능하거든. 단점은 찾을 수가 없어.

1. I can't think of the right word for my situation.
2. I can't think of a better word to describe how I feel than 'angry'
3. What a nice exhibition! I can't think of a better way to spend my afternoon off.
4 I can't think of a use for all this leftover cheese.
5. Using dual monitors is really convenient. I can multitask or switch between tasks. I can't think of any downside.

 

 

 

#2 Small Talk

A : Do you know anyone who has an electic vehicle?     아는 사람 중에 전기차 타는 사람 있어?

B : I can't think of anyone at the moment, but I must know at least one. Car makers and dealers are all trying to promote electic vehicles.     당장은 생각나는 사람이 없는데 그래도 한 명은 있을 거야. 자동차 회사랑 딜러를 모두 전기차 홍보에 힘쓰고 있잖아.

 

A : Sir, what would be a good translation for the Korean term, 'Jeong'?     선생님, 한국어 '정'에 해당하는 좋은 번역은 뭘까요?

B : Yeah, I've been getting that question a lot, but I can't really think of a single good expression. Affection? Attachment? Nothing seems quite right.     네, 그 질문 진짜 많이 받아봤는데요. 저도 딱 한 단어로는 생각이 안납니다. affection(애정)? attachment(애착)" 딱 이거다 싶은 게 하나도 없네요.

Mr. Cho If you have a moment, I could use your help with a shipping problem.  We accidentally forgot to send a package out for several days, and now I can't think of a way to get it to the customer by Thursday, which is our quaranteed delivery date. (사무용품 회사 직원이 같은 회사 타 부서 팀장에게 보내는 이메일) 조침장님께 잠깐 시간되시면 배송 문제 좀 도와주실 수 있을까요? 저희가 어쩌다가 며칠동안 배송하는 걸 깜빡했고요. 배송일을 약속한 것이 목요일인데 그때까지 고객에게 물건을 배송할 방법이 생각나지 않습니다.
