영어로 "그런데, 그나저나, 참고로" 말하기 - by the way

오늘은 by the way를 활용하는 방법에 대해 공부해 보겠습니다.

 

New Year's is just around the corner. Are you going to your parent's house, by the way?
새해가 코앞이네. 그나저나 너 부모님 댁에 갈거야?

by the way

 

"그건 그렇고, 그런데, 그나저나, 참고로" 영어로 By the way를 사용합니다.

1. 잊어 버리기 전에 무슨 말을 하고 싶을 때
2. 상대의 이야기를 듣다가 뭔가 연관된 것이 생각날 때
3. 맥락과 상관없는 추가적인 정보를 공유할 때

 

 

#1. By the way를 활용해 문장을 영작해 보세요. 

1. 그래서 내가 다른 재즈 페스티벌에 안 가는 거야. 그나저나 넌 재즈 좋아해?

2. 이 방에는 두 개의 트윈 침대가 구비되어 있습니다. 참고로 해변도 너무 잘 보입니다.

1. That's why I'll never go to another Jazz Festival. Do you like jazz, by the way?
2. The room comes with two twin beds. You'll also have a great view of the beach, by the way.
3. I have a friend who's looking for a trainer. He's single, by the way.
4. We'll just have to order something for Mark and Mindy. When are they coming, by the way?

 

 

 

#2 Small Talk

A : Do you want to join this yoga class with me? I can get a discount for referring a friend.     나랑 같이 요가 수업 받을래? 친구를 소개하면 할인받을 수 있거든. ( ★ refer a friend : 친구를 소개하다.)

B : I'll think about it. I do need to work on my flexibility. By the way, is the instructor cute?     생각해 볼게. 유연성을 좀 기르긴 해야 해. 근데 선생님 귀여우셔? ( ★  flexibility: 유연성 활용)

 

A : You're still single, right? Can I set you up with my friend, Samantha? She's your age and really kind.     아직 만나는 사람 없지? 내 친구 사만다 소개시켜줄까?  ( ★ set A up with B: A에게 B를 소개시켜주다)

B : Sounds great! By the way, do you know Samantha's MBTI?     좋아! 그나저나 사만다 MBTI가 뭔지 알아?

 

A : Hi there. I'd like some more information on the new Mercedes model.     안녕하세요. 벤츠 신모델 정보 좀 알고 싶어서요.

B : Sure, I can tell you all about it. Which make of car are you currently driving, by the way?     물론이죠. 전부 말씀 드릴게요. 그나저나 지금 타는 차량 종류가 어떤 거세요?

 

 

 

#3 Cases in point

Thanks for hanging out with me last night! I had a great time and I hope you felt the same way. Btw, did you make it to work on time? I was a little worried after you almost fell getting into a cab. 어젯밤에 나랑 놀아줘서 고마워! 나는 너무 재밌었는데 너도 그랬으면 좋겠어. 그나저나 회사 안 늦었어? 너 택시 타다가 넘어질 뻔해서 좀 걱정되더라고. ★  hang out : 많은 시간을 보내다. ★  Btw : by the way의 채팅 약어 ★  I hope you felt the same way: 당신도 나와 같은 마음이었길 바래요. ★  get into cab : 택시를 타다. ★  fall: 떨어지다, 넘어지다.
